Glücksburg and the surrounding Area

Signposted bicycle tours, the Fördeland-Therme with its large sauna area, the golf club, the surf and kite school in Holnis or the Hanseatic yacht school in Glücksburg only offer a small selection of sporting offers.
The cultural highlight is of course the white Glücksburg moated castle. The imposing Renaissance moated castle was once the seat of government of Danish kings and became known as the "cradle of the European royal houses". There are guided tours of the castle.
A very special excursion destination takes you to the Haithabu World Heritage Site. The Viking Museum is one of the most important archaeological museums in Germany. The museum and the 7 restored houses impressively show, how people lived in the early Middle Ages.
Or how about a day trip to Denmark? Just a short drive by car and you are in the middle of a small harbour town on Denmark's coast, Sønderborg (pronounced Sönnerborg). There you will also find individual shops in a typical Danish shopping street and much more. Of course you can also reach the town by boat or, for the more sporty, by bike.
